Thirty years ago, this place was all but ruined. Almost every island was torn apart by a savage war, raging between foreign armies of foreign soil.
The British fleet came up against the Spanish armada in a fierce fight for ownership of the tropical slands of the Serpent Archipelago, a collection of sandy beaches and rocky hills that were a glorious paradise, before the thundering armies came. Mind you, the fighting could not last forever.
It's now 1750, and the islands are fonally at peace. Communities are rebuilt, society can live harmoniously with the surroundings once more. British and Spanish settlements can reside side by side without (much) fighting. After all, they can share such a magnificent place. There is nothing to stop them.

It's beautiful, decked out with a hundred heavy artillery cannons, and a crew of ragged pirates and criminals that have very little regard for it's undoubtedly beloved creation. It was once named someing completely different, the flagship of the Spanish armada and pride of Madrid. However, times change.
And the ship has been repainted from it's red and gold to deep bloodstained burgundy and mottled grey-black. This ship, this grand ship, is the Maelstrom. The biggest threat to security ever facing the two now peaceful nations.
Of course people are scared. They have a right to be scared. But just what sort of a threat do the crew, lead by a most reckless, headstrong captain, face?
