Well, that much he knew was not true. He'd watched the battle at Alcatraz several times - as it happened, and long after the event had passed. He had been believing him... his points made sense, for the most part. Stopping people from taking the cure because they shouldn't have to take the cure. It was almost admirable.
Of course, then John said the part about getting knocked out from behind. He shook his head slightly, running his fingers through his hair. "Well... see... here's the thing. I know exactly what happened at Alcatraz. Better than almost everyone else in the world. I had front row seats. Backstage passes. All that jazz. I saw you and Bobby fight." And the carsplosions, but he wasn't going to worry about that. All he knew was that Bobby'd smote him thoroughly.
"Seems kind of like a silly thing to lie about if you honestly believed the stuff you were tellin' me." He said, his voice very serious. Still, he was starting to get a sneaking suspicion that this wasn't going to be as simple as he'd thought it was. Ulterior motives were abound, that much he could tell.
Turning his gaze away from him, he just sighed. "Nothin's really left here. I mean, this place is pretty much a waste now." At least he didn't seem to be freaking out about the possible implications standing in front of him.

John felt his hopes sink as he realized he'd been found out. He'd forgotten about the boy's power- the whole reason he was doing this- and taken the story too far.
For a moment, John thought Christian was going to run, and readied himself to bolt after him, but instead, the kid's tone changed from what he assumed was accusatory to conversational.
"Yeah. I did lie... sorry." He admitted, maybe he could still turn this around. "I guess I'm still kind of pissed about getting beaten by the bad guys." He shrugged, and also looked around as Christian was doing.
"You're right." He nodded. "Nothing left here now. But it was the only lead i had, so i thought i might as well start here. I thought maybe I'd get lucky, find some clue about where Magneto went." He decided to try and stop with the lies now- lest he be caught out again. Instead, he started to try and edge his goal forward, the goal of getting Christian to find out where Magneto is and tell him.
"Or if he even survived the battle with his powers intact... for all i know, he may be as good as human by now. For Magneto, that's worse than being dead."

"Well, I know that he's alive. I saw him get out of here before the stuff really hit the fan." All of that magical happening with that red head woman Jean Grey. Something clicked in his head for a moment, before fading away again. Either way, he shrugged slightly. He still didn't see the X-men as the 'bad guys'... passive was better than aggressive in his opinion... people got hurt less. But... perhaps the Brotherhood wasn't entirely in the wrong either.
Magneto was right that at least they shouldn't have been afraid of people. Heck, he himself could ruin a lot of lives with very little effort - why should he worry about people? He shook that thought from his head with a very visible shake. No, that would be wrong.
At this point, however, he thought he could vaguely see a pattern as to where this was going. He didn't know where Magneto was right now, but it would take absolutely no effort on his part to find the guy and send John on his merry way. He just wasn't sure if that was the smartest of ideas, given the circumstances.
"Then again... how come Magneto didn't come find you instead? Maybe the brotherhood's done for? He might want you to go to Xavier's. Be with your friends again...?" Now that he could remember who he was, he could recall the images with him in them. At Alkali lake, with Bobby and Rogue, for instance. They' been close. Before John hopped sides, of course.

John was relieved to find out that Magneto had escaped and was alive, but he did expect that much. He knew that Magneto was a great fighter- and part of that was knowing when to get going. He was also somewhat of a survivor, as he'd gathered from personal experiences. He briefly remembered back to a time when Magneto had shared a small glimpse of his past struggles with him.
What the teen was actually worried about was whether Magneto had survived with his powers, and, where was he now? These questions still needed answering, but he was getting there slowly- at least they were on to the subject of Magneto now. He made a mental note to be careful what he said to this all-knowing boy. This conversation seemed more like a battle to John- his goal was to get the information, but he didn't want to leave his guard down and lose his chance.
He almost laughed at Christian's suggestion of going back to the X-Men. "Nah. I don't have any friends there any more. I doubt I'd be welcome either, and besides... as long as Magneto lives the Brotherhood is never dead. He's probably somewhere out there right now..." He hinted subtly. "And he needs a right hand man."

"The road's never too long to go home, y'know..." He said, before kicking at some rocks he was standing on. It was almost true. There were some crimes you could never come back from - but fighting for what you believed in wasn't one of them. So long as you were willing to admit defeat when the time finally came to do so.
Running his fingers through the back of his head, he looked at John. He honestly did seem lost... especially without someone to tell him what to do. He was certain that he could take care of himself if he needed to... but... to go through his life friendless...
"Well... I guess... if you want, I could find Magneto for you." He could, after all, see anything. He had a sneaking suspicion he was playing exactly in to Pyro's hands, but that... really didn't matter. He couldn't let someone stay lost just because they were on the 'other' side. He'd helped Red when she was lost, so he'd do the same for John, even if the X-men might frown on that.
"But... I bet if you really wanted to come back... no one would stop you." He offered him a sincere smile. Christian felt strongly about them; they hadn't led him wrong so far. "Want me to?" He asked, sticking his hands in his back pockets.
